Where is my data stored?
In the EU. Conversations, notes, calendar and health logs are kept in a database that is restricted to data centres in the EU, and uploaded files in storage with the same restriction.
The servers, database and storage are run by Cloudflare, an American company. What is stored stays in its data centres in the EU; a message reaches them through the Cloudflare data centre nearest to you.
Which AI models answer, and do they keep my conversations?
Emmy uses open-source models running on European hosts, reached through a gateway in the EU. Those hosts keep nothing: your conversation is not logged by them and is not used to train any model.
Pictures are read, speech is written down and searches are prepared by models on the same kind of European host, on the same terms.
Is my conversation used to train AI?
No. Not by us and not by the hosts that run the models.
What happens to a voice recording?
It is sent to a speech model on a European host, turned into text, and kept nowhere. Only the words reach your message box, and only if you then send them.
Does anything ever leave Emmy’s own setup?
Only what a task needs, and only to these places:
A web search sends one short search phrase to Linkup, a French search company, with nothing about who asked. It happens when you switch it on for a message with the globe, or when Emmy judges that an answer needs looking up, a few times a message at most. The phrase is written from your message and what it refers to earlier in the conversation; the conversation itself is not sent.
A web address in your message is fetched from Emmy’s server; the site sees a request, not you.
A service you connect receives what Emmy sends it on your behalf, and nothing goes to services you have not connected.
A notification travels through your browser maker’s push service, sealed so that it cannot be read on the way.
Payments are handled by Mollie, a Dutch company. A card number is typed into Mollie’s own fields and never reaches Emmy.
Are there trackers, ads or analytics?
No. The pages load no fonts, scripts or images from other companies, and there is no analytics and no advertising. The one exception is Mollie’s card fields, loaded only when you choose to enter a card.
How do I delete things?
“Delete chat” removes a conversation together with its images and documents. Switching a connector off deletes everything it kept. “Delete my account” in Settings removes the account and all of its data.
Does the app keep my conversations on my phone?
No. Emmy does not store pages or answers on your device for offline use, so a conversation you delete is not left behind on it.
